I came across an article on LinkedIn awhile ago, and it got me thinking. Are home offices the future of business? And if so what is the perception from the client’s standpoint? For those that don’t need to interact with their clients on a personal level, face-to-face meetings, etc., I could see this being the way of the future. As long as you are being productive, the idea of setting your own schedule, no one looking over your shoulder, and working in your PJ’s is very appealing to some. However, what if you do have to interact with clients face-to-face? What is their perception of having to meet at your house versus an office? Maybe if you work for a large company and your home office is just an extension of home base, clients won’t mind. But what about those small businesses that work out of their homes as a choice, to keep overhead down and be more flexible with their clients? What’s the perception? Are clients ok with this or does it make them feel like they are dealing with less of company? I’m curious to know what everyone thinks about this. Let us know what you think about home offices in the comments section below.

I have been using Manfrotto quick release systems for years. I’ve never been a huge fan of the Manfrotto systems but they were much better than the alternative, screwing my cameras directly to my tripod, Glidecam, shoulder rig, etc. it takes a lot of time and is a huge pain in the butt! My biggest issue with them is the slide in feature when using my shoulder rig. The hand grips must be removed every time I want to put my shoulder rig on my tripod. For some this may not seem that big a deal but every second counts when on location. Enter the Kessler Kwik Release System

From KesslerCrane.com:

The Kwik Release System is a unique, patent pending mounting system featuring solid billet aluminum and stainless steel construction. With a one hand drop-in instant latching and push button drop-gate release, this mounting system is strong, secure, fast and easy to use.

Once the mounting plate is snapped into the receiver, the plate can be adjusted but it cannot slide out of the receiver thanks to the secure safety stops. We also built in an ultra-strong cam lock that, once tightened, will secure the plate with absolutely no slip. We have designed the Kwik Release System to be as modular as possible with mounting plates available for cameras, sliders, motion control heads and more.

We stand behind our products 100%. Our Kessler Lifetime Warranty backs the Kwik Release system.

Includes:

Kwik Release Receiver

Your Choice (if selected) of Camera Plate (None, Mini Camera Plate, Short Camera Plate, Long Camera Plate, or Utility Plate) w/ Tool Kit

Tool Kit for Receiver

(2) 1/4″-20 Countersunk Screw

(2) 8-32×1/2″ Socket Head Cap Screw

(1) 5/32″ Allen Key

(1) 9/64″ Allen Key

I purchased my first Kessler Kwik Release System about a month ago. I liked it so much that I bought 2 more. One of the best features of the system is that there are 4 different plates you can buy for various applications.

There’s a mini plate for smaller cameras like a DSLR.

A short camera plate for cameras or accessories.

A long camera plate for larger cameras or more adjustability.

And even a utility plate for larger accessories like a Kessler slider.

I own all the plates except for the mini. For now I don’t have a need for it, but I have put the rest to use. I have put the small plate on my DSLR, the large plate on my EX1 and shoulder rig, and the utility on my Kessler Philip Bloom Pocket Dolly

This may sound silly but I have found myself staring at the Kessler Kwik Release System because it is beautifully machined and constructed. It is soild without adding too much weight. I can’t say enough about this system, my only complaint is that it only has 1/4 20 screws and can’t accept 3/8 16 screws. For the most part this isn’t a problem but I do have some support gear that uses 3/8 16. Where this might be a slight issue with Kessler plates it isn’t with the new Zacuto QR Dovetail Plate. Since the Kessler Kwik Release is based off of Really Right Stuff it is compatible with multiple systems, which includes the QR Dovetail Plates from Zacuto.

To sum up, if the price doesn’t scare you (at the time of this post $139.95 for Kwik Release, and $19.95 for mini and short plates, $39.95 for long plate, and $49.95 for utility plate) I highly recommend this system for its versatility and security it gives. Please visit www.kesslercrane.com to find out more about the Kwik Release System.

This morning we had the pleasure of attending the CBC of Central Florida Breakfast to help raise awareness and funds for their cause, helping kids in foster care. We have learned a lot over the last several weeks about the CBC and their mission, through the work we did on their breakfast video.

We had a very short amount of time to complete this project, one day to shoot all the interviews and a little over a week to turn around the video. We also had to create different looks for each interview within one room. This was a bit of a challenge but we were up for it. In the end we are happy with the result and enjoyed our time working with Community Based Care of Central Florida.
